I see alot of people being confused by the fact he lost his memories, but still knows things of Japanese culture ETC.
Here’s my thoughts on the matter:
I think what happens here is the memory of his past life is what he lost and that information and memory are dealt with seperately.
Like, he doesn’t remember what he did in life but he does know he’s japanese and knows about it’s culture. Idk if that helps. maybe it’s just poor writting indeed. But i think it’s something like that.
My understanding is that this is normal for amnesia. You lose personal memories but not things like language and culture. You don’t remember your name, but you do remember how to say that you don’t.

he gave up memories of his “self,” not the entirety of his memories
bear in mind anime’s are generally three to four light novels condensed into twelve episodes. a LOT of minor details are skipped
instead of deleting his memory it was sealed and that’s why i guess he still have knowledges from past world and suddenly talking like something related to his past life..
its a fun isekai , but again the MC is scared of touching women.
